CAN I INSTALL IT MYSELF?
Answer:
Your tub will be professionally delivered, and it will take several people to move the tub into its final location. This is a job for professionals, and you probably don’t want your buddies playing “moving-guys” with your several-thousand-dollar investment. With professional delivery offered by just about every dealer, if the dealer you’re considering buying your tub from DOESN’T offer delivery, you MIGHT want to reconsider your decision to buy from them.
You’ll most likely need electrical service to the area, so a licensed electrician will be needed. Typically, hot tubs require dedicated 220v service, which includes a separate breaker. Once this stuff is done, all you’ll need to do is stick a hose in the tub and hit the “on” button!

WILL I NEED A PLUMBER?
Answer:
Since the tub is a stand-alone, self contained unit, the plumbing is contained inside the tub, and no additional plumbing is needed. The piping, ozone system, filter, motors, and heater are all hidden away from view, yet should be easily accessible.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO RUN?
Answer:
Here’s where a little extra research and a little extra money at the onset can pay off. The answer to this question really depends on the features you chose when you purchased your tub. It will also depend on personal preferences, where you put it, how much it’s used and what your local utility company charges per KW hour! So there’s really no set answer to this one, but there are some exceptionally energy efficient models out there. Some things to look for are full foam insulation and pumps that recycle the heat they generate back into the tub to cut down on energy waste. And don’t forget to consider the insulation properties of the hot tub cover. Look for covers that are high quality, properly insulated, seal & fit snugly, and lock down. These features will reflect a wise choice in keeping your ongoing costs low.

WHAT MAKES A $10,000 TUB BETTER THAN THE $2995 TUB AT COSTCO OR HOME DEPOT?
Answer:
You’ll need to do some research here, but keep in mind that the initial cost is only a very small portion of the lifetime cost of ownership. Two of the main reasons are 1) On-going cost to operate and 2) Maintenance.
While the tubs you can get at a “big box” store may be just fine for the first summer season, the big difference will be when the weather turns chilly and insulation and heating become larger issues. This is when you’ll be feeling like the genius that you are because you did take the time to research your investment, and chose your tub for the overall quality and efficiency, not just because it was a “quick fix” and cost less.
Something else to keep in mind is this. The “big box” stores will surely offer delivery, but, it’s CURBSIDE delivery. What that means is they’ll unload it pretty much where they say. At the CURB. Then it’s up to you to get it to wherever its final destination is. So in this case you’re probably going to need to call your buddies and make a day of it.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE TO MAINTAIN?
Answer:
Depending on the feature that you chose, this can vary. Certain ozone systems can greatly reduce the chemicals needed to keep the tub sanitized and balanced. Look for models that truly sanitize the water, not just “blow bubbles” that escape into the air. The addition of an ultraviolet germicidal light offers an additional alternative to high chemical usage in order to maintain clean, clear germ free water. For tubs with these features, maintenance isn’t really all that difficult or time consuming. Routine maintenance involves adding some sanitizer once or twice per week, and hosing off the filters once per month. In tubs with effective ozone systems, complete water changes should only be needed semi-annually, since chemical use will be so much less. Contact your dealer and ask to see their specific maintenance instructions. They’ll provide you with step by step instructions for both start up as well as ongoing maintenance that should be easy to understand and follow. They should also be happy to demonstrate, or walk you through the steps at any time.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE MY HOT TUB AFTER USING IT?
Answer:
Some manufacturers and dealers offer satisfaction guarantees that will likely also include a money back guarantee, as well as an exchange policy. Ask about these important features. And what if you take delivery of your new hot tub, then you find out you’re moving, or you need the tub moved for some other reason? Will your dealer help you out? The dealer you choose should at least APPEAR that they want to establish a relationship with you, not just sell you your tub with a quick slap on the back and a “SEE YA”. You should be comfortable that they’ll actually stand behind the tub they’ve sold you, and make every attempt to assist you in any way they can even AFTER your tub is delivered. Your new hot tub is an investment that you’ve likely spent a significant amount of money on. You sure don’t’ want to get stuck with something that’s not what you expected or a dealer just trying to make a quick sale. See The Hot Tub Factory Guarantee

WHERE SHOULD I PUT MY NEW HOT TUB?
It’s also a good idea to try out different locations before deciding on a spot. Take a chair around with you and sit down in several areas that you might be considering. You might notice things that didn’t occur to you before, like noise, obstructed views, or a clear view from the neighbor’s kitchen window.
Don’t forget to check out the view above! Can you see the stars? Are you looking at the trees? If you plan to place it on a deck, be sure that the deck can support the weight of the filled tub. Wherever you decide to put it, be sure that you’ve measured in advance, and that it will actually FIT. When your hot tub is delivered, you need to have the area prepared and ready. If you plan to put your tub inside, you’ll need to place it in a room or other area with adequate ventilation, and preferably a tile floor. No matter how hard you try to keep the water in the tub, some is bound to get splashed out, or dripped across the floor after exiting the tub. Keep in mind that humidity can be an issue also.
